i like these because they are CLOSE UP AND PERSONAL, the people are laid back and relaxed like they know me.

What is an understory? The understory is the part of the forest that grows under the tree canopy. It's a shady area made up of a mixture of plants which usually need more light to leaf out and grow.
And that's what our project is about. Shining a light on how a diverse group of rural residents in the forested Sierra foothills of California are creating new paths toward community revitalization.

I like how you tell me why you like the photos and make the connection that those of us posing as wierdos for you would only do this because we know you (that's why we're laid back and relaxed). I think you are right, that the better your relationship is with your photo subject the more able you are to get more up close and personal images.
