this picture is of my self and of my best friend Taylor. we were sitting there at lunch on Tuesday and she just picked up my camera and snapped a picture of us. i happen to absolutely LOVE the lighting! the way the sun hits her face and the way the wind is blowing my hair into my face...i dont look like much, but taylor makes this picture just absolutely shine!

What is an understory? The understory is the part of the forest that grows under the tree canopy. It's a shady area made up of a mixture of plants which usually need more light to leaf out and grow.
And that's what our project is about. Shining a light on how a diverse group of rural residents in the forested Sierra foothills of California are creating new paths toward community revitalization.

This is a lovely shot. And i agree, the lighting is a lot of what makes it so great. I also really like the framing--it makes us focus on just you both. Both of your expressions are so different, that makes the image interesting. And the texture (fence behind you) also adds to the vibe.
