This is a picture of my cousin, Conner. I like this picture because it has a foreground, a mid ground, and a background. I think that this portrait illustrates a clean, fresh beginning of life. I feel that this picture also brings a sense of hope and motivation for any hardship to overcome. I would hope that this portrait communicates a bright future ahead.

What is an understory? The understory is the part of the forest that grows under the tree canopy. It's a shady area made up of a mixture of plants which usually need more light to leaf out and grow.
And that's what our project is about. Shining a light on how a diverse group of rural residents in the forested Sierra foothills of California are creating new paths toward community revitalization.

I really appreciate all the info you shared in you post. Not only are you demonstrating photographic concepts that you've learned (composition) but you are also digging into reading the image and connecting to your own hopes. Bravo! Keep up the great work.
